Why Basalt is a strong place to own solar

Basalt sits in the heart of the Roaring Fork Valley with strong sun and a community that already values clean energy. Homeowners want lower utility costs and optional backup; businesses and public buildings want predictable energy spend. If you own the building, you can stop treating electricity as a pure expense and treat it as infrastructure you control.

Storage Batteries & Energy Independence

Standard grid-tied solar shuts off during an outage. A battery such as the Enphase IQ Battery 10C, set up for backup, can keep the essentials running when the grid goes down — no fuel, no generator to start.

Your Solar Questions Answered

Will solar panels work on my home?

The effectiveness of solar panels depends on factors such as roof orientation, shading, roof condition, and available space. We assess each home individually to determine suitability.

What are the financial benefits of installing solar?

Solar can reduce your electricity bill, add appeal for many buyers, and pair with incentives and financing you still qualify for. Many systems pay for themselves in energy savings over time; we model that for your address rather than promising a generic number.

What incentives are available for installing solar panels?

Incentives change from year to year and depend on which utility serves your address. Your project manager reviews current options for your property and documents what you qualify for in your proposal.

How long do solar panels last?

Quality panels are built to produce for decades, with gradual output decline over time. Warranty coverage for your equipment is spelled out in your contract.

What maintenance is required for solar panels?

Solar panels require minimal maintenance. Some cleaning to remove dirt and debris and periodic inspections are recommended to ensure maximum efficiency.

Will I still have power if the grid goes down?

Unless you have a battery backup system, standard solar systems shut off during grid outages for safety reasons. With battery storage, you can continue using electricity even when the grid is down.

Can I add a battery storage system to my solar setup?

Yes, battery storage can be added to store excess energy generated by your solar panels. This allows you to use stored energy during peak times, at night, or during power outages.

Roof first or solar first?

If the roof is near the end of its life, replace or repair it before panels go up. We help sequence the project so you don’t pay twice.

What happens during winter or snowy weather?

Panels are built for cold climates. Snow may cover them for a while; production recovers as they clear, and cold, clear days can be productive.

What is the return on investment (ROI) for solar panels?

It depends on system cost, rates, usage, incentives still available and how long you stay in the home. We show project-specific economics on your proposal.

Will my roof be damaged during installation?

Our team ensures that solar installations are done without compromising your roof’s integrity. We inspect the roof before installation and provide solutions if repairs are needed.

What happens next on your solar energy journey?

1. Get in touch

Request a free consultation or sign up to stay up to date with our team at SoL Energy. We’ll help you determine how much of your current electrical usage could be generated by solar power.

2. Initial consultation

One of our solar consultants will contact you to discuss your solar objectives so that the information we present aligns precisely with what you would like to achieve by going solar.

3. Technical Feasibility Study and Design

One of our designers will create a virtual 3D design of a system that gets as close to meeting 100% of your objectives as possible

4. 3D Online Presentation

We will offer you an online presentation to go over the details by using our 3D imagery software. You will see the layout of the solar panels at your site and how and why they will be impacted by trees and other potential shade producing obstructions. You will see the path of the sun as it moves through the days and months throughout the year.

5. System Installation

SoL Energy will handle everything including permitting, utility interconnection applications, inspections, and commissioning of the system.

6. Performance Monitoring and Support

All of our grid-tied systems come with in depth system monitoring with access through a website and/or on a mobile app.
